I have been devoting my energies to the study of mathematics for more than fifteen years now. In my teen years back in Romania I used to participate in mathematics competitions (aka olympiads). I won some prestigious prizes and trips abroad and have some great memories of those times.

In 1998 I came to the USA to study at MIT for my bachelors degree. I finished in 2002 focusing mainly on theoretical mathematics, while also exploring the field of computer science. The MIT years consisted entirely in work, work and more work; too much work and too little thinking.

Currently I am at Columbia University happily working on finalizing my doctoral dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Ioannis Karatzas. I specialize in stochastic analysis, probability and their connections with mathematical finance. I have greatly benefited from mathematical interactions with Prof. Marc Yor from France and Prof. Jonathan Warren from the UK.
